Jul 19, 2024 // anthrocon vibes - short film and photography

anthrocon, as always, was a blast. i've only been to a few other furry conventions, but anthrocon has always been my favorite. the vibes are right. while all furcons have a great sense of community where I feel welcome, anthrocon is the only one where that sense of welcoming extends beyond the walls of the hotel and convention center.

pittsburgh is a city that loves us. the yinzers come to the downtown area just to see the parade, the local businesses make furry themed menus (and one even changes their name to FurryLand and will serve your food in a dog bowl for an upcharge). that vibe has always been there, but it's especially been there in the last couple of years with the introduction of the block party. on saturday, immediately after the parade, they shut down three or four blocks of the main road outside the con center for everybody to hang out. the crowd is mixed with random normies and the furries all hanging out and taking pictures, it's such a good time.

anyways, this year I picked up a new camera, the fujifilm x-s20, and it's been a blast. photography and cinematography have always been hobbies of mine, but it's kind of fallen to the wayside in the last decade or so, so it's been really nice to pick up again. anthrocon was the perfect thing to get my feet wet again. i made a short film and took a lot of interesting photos. check it out, and I hope you enjoy!

warning... a massive amount of photos taken during the event below lol
